Mr. Sallai Meridor (WZO)

Honorary Member

Sallai Meridor served as Israel’s Ambassador to the USA from 2006 to 2009. During this period, the strategic cooperation between America and Israel has been enhanced and the intimate relations between both governments have deepened.

Currently, Sallai Meridor is a partner in a VC fund in formation, serves as a consultant, and volunteers as the Chairperson of the Jerusalem Foundation, as a board member of the Israel Democracy Institute, the Tiqva fund and other NGOs, and as a member of different GOI advisory committees.

Between 1999 and 2005, Meridor served as the Chairperson of the Jewish Agency for Israel and the World Zionist Organization. Prior to that, he served on the executives and as the Treasurer of those organizations and as the Chairperson of the Settlement division of the World Zionist Organization.

Before joining the Jewish Agency for Israel, Sallai Meridor served as the adviser to Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defense, Moshe Arens. He was one of Israel’s representatives to the Madrid Conference and the ensuing negotiations.

Sallai Meridor was born and raised in Jerusalem. He served as an officer in the IDF Intelligence unit 8200. He received his BA from the Hebrew University in the History of the Jewish people and the History of the Muslim countries. He is married to Noa and they live in Kfar Adumim. They have three daughters and four grandchildren.

He was elected Honorary Member of the Board in JUne 2010.
