Youth Futures

FACT: More than 350,000 of Israel’s children are at risk of not having the opportunity to become independent, constructive members of society. Not surprisingly, the most dramatic numbers live in Israel’s social and geographic periphery.

FACT: Investing in educational excellence is the way out of poverty and into hope. For youngsters. For communities.

The rise in the number of children and youth at risk remains one of the most serious social problems facing Israel. Particularly in the Negev and Galilee, priority areas for the State of Israel and the Jewish Agency, the already-widening socio-economic gap is consuming the future of literally tens of thousands of Israel’s children, ages 6 -18.

With the stakes higher than ever before, at the Jewish Agency we have utilized our distinctive capacity to engage in projects of national scope to develop a platform with the capacity to finally change the equation: YOUTH FUTURES.

The premise of YOUTH FUTURES is that you break the cycle of deprivation and despair by giving youngsters the opportunity to create new futures for themselves: building their self-esteem and belief in the future and giving them the tools to get there.

In a holistic response for two specific age groups—ages 6 to13 and 14 to 18—YOUTH FUTURES will develop personalized, age-appropriate intervention aligned with each community’s specific needs and resources.

YOUTH FUTURES ENSURES THAT EVERY CHILD AT RISK HAS:

  • Personalized educational opportunities to fill critical gaps

  • An appropriate role model committed to his or her success

  • Activities to motivate and cultivate self-esteem and confidence

  • Opportunities to excel in a variety of self-selected fields based on the strengths of the youngster’s own community.

WHO WILL BE OUR PARTNERS? Youth Futures brings you into an extraordinary new partnership paradigm with Israeli partners—highly motivated young social change activists, local municipalities and volunteers, Israeli philanthropists and NGOs already implementing successful programs. Working together, providing the critical mass to achieve two critical goals:

  • Dramatically increasing educational achievements and the number of youngsters in the Galilee and Negev who successfully complete high school by creating access to equal education opportunity; and through them.

  • Infusing Israel's periphery with hope and excellence, utilizing the success of the next generation as an engine of change to transform these areas of national priority.

HOW WILL THE FUNDING PARTNERSHIP WORK? Youth Futures will bring 3 major funding partners to the table: The Jewish Agency through our core budget, a Jewish community or major donor from around the world, and an Israeli philanthropist—an individual donor, foundation or corporate partner committed to social responsibility. The local or national government may participate in funding or provide in-kind services.
