For your information the traditional Ethiopian Jewish holiday, the Sigd is being celebrated this Thursday, December 1st.
This is the day where in Ethiopia the entire Jewish community would climb the highest hill and pray for their coming to Jerusalem.
This holiday celebration will take place on Thursday, December 1st between 10am till 2pm at the Sherover Promenade at East Talpiyot, near the UN Headquarters in Jerusalem.
Thosands of members of the Ethiopian Jewish community in Israel will converge on this location from all over the country.
The leaders of the community wear their traditional garb.
The media is invited to cover this public event of special significance this year taking into consideration that the Jewish Agency for Israel will in the coming weeks be implementing the Israeli Government`s decision to double the immigration of eligible individuals from Ethiopia from 300 to 600 immigrants a month.
Similarly the Jewish Agency has been mandated to set up a system of formal and informal Jewish education for those awaiting immigration in Addis Ababa and Gondar in Ethiopia as well as the teaching of Hebrew for the potential immigrants in accordance with the agreement reached by the Governments of Israel and Ethiopia.
