December 27, 2006 / 6 Tevet 5767
On Wednesday, December 27th 2006, a special El Al flight, LY214 from London with 47 Olim on board is due to land at 17:40 at the Ben Gurion Airport. This will be the second arrival this year of a group of Olim from the UK, a remarkable achievement for the Aliyah from the UK during the year 2006. The group flight is organized by Nefesh B‘Nefesh and a result of a combined effort with the Jewish Agency For Israel.
The Jewish Agency's efforts to find a new approach for encouraging Aliyah by helping Olim to prepare better for Aliyah, and creating more confidence, has proved to be effective in facilitating the decision of making Aliyah and will eventually contribute to successful integration of the Olim in Israel.
On Sunday 17th December 2006, The Jewish Agency Office in Britain with FZY youth movement hosted a farewell reception and Hanukah party in honor of the future Olim.
The Jewish Agency's program "At Home Together", gives Olim the opportunity to be twinned with and adopted by volunteers and Israeli families. This is in the hope that the unique connection will help the Olim in their first period after Aliyah by helping create a vital networking and support for a successful social and economical integration that will last also after the Olim have settled.
