Emergency Response Group:
Doctors From Midwest To Replace Local Doctors In Case Of National Emergency

Jewish physicians from Midwestern communities that are part of the Central Region Consortium in the Jewish Agency's Partnership 2000 program will come to the Western Galilee immediately, if a national emergency is declared in Israel, replacing Israeli doctors who are called up for army service. The first group of the Emergency Response Group program is scheduled to arrive within 72 hours following the declaration of a national emergency. This week, a group of ten doctors including department heads and lecturers at medical schools, from Dallas, Des Moines, and Indianapolis are visiting the Western Galilee to become acquainted with the hospital system, in order to be prepared in case of an emergency. The doctors are also availing themselves of Israel's experience to learn about dealing with terrorist attacks and defending against biological and chemical warfare.
