The Jewish Agency will bring Hundreds of Children from the Sderot Region to Israel's Center and Out of Kassam Range

November 16, 2006 / 25 Cheshvan 5767

Due to the intensification of Kassam missile fire during the last few days, on Friday, November 17,  the Jewish Agency will bring 500 children living in the Gaza perimeter and Sderot region to Central Israel for recreational activities and a respite from the barrage of rockets.

The activities are taking place as part of continued efforts by the Jewish Agency to assist the residents of the Gaza perimeter region and the town of Sderot and allow them to maintain as normal a routine as possible.

Within this framework, the children are invited to the 'Mediatech' youth and children's theater in Holon where they will watch a performance of 'Shmaryahu' at 9:30 Friday morning.

In tandem, the Jewish Agency is gearing up, in collaboration with the leaders of the municipalities, to assist residents of the region by additional means.

The Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Zeev Bielski, said that the "the most important objective presently is to remove the children from the line of fire and allow them to maintain their routine and to pursue educational activities".
