Bnei Mitzvah Use Their Cash Presents to Establish Playgrounds in Northern Israel

April 11, 2007/23 Nissan 5767

On April 5, and April 10, inauguration ceremonies took place for two new playgrounds in Kiryat Shmona.

The playgrounds were established thanks to the generous donations of two bnei mitzvah from Toronto, who contributed their bar/bat mitzvah money to establish a playground for children in the North as part of the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto’s Emergency Campaign.

The first ceremony took place on April 5th, at the "Vradim" playground which will henceforth be called "Or", thanks to a contribution by Orli Matlow, from Toronto.  Participating in the ceremony were members of the family, representatives of the Jewish Agency, the United Israel Appeal (UIA) of Canada and the Kiryat Shmona municipality.

The second ceremony took place on April 10th, at the "Henrietta Szold" playground, thanks to a contribution from Norman Yallen, from Toronto.  Participating in this ceremony as well were members of Norman's family, representatives of the Jewish Agency, the United Israel Appeal (UIA) of Canada and the mayor of Kiryat Shmona.
