Bedouin from Rahat Recieves Aid from Fund for Victims of Terror

January 1, 2008 / 5 Tevet 5769.

Jewish Agency Chairman Zeev Bielski, and Jewish Agency Treasurer Hagai Meirom, visited Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon and met with Maid Abu Sahiban (20), a construction worker from the Bedouin town of Rahat, who was wounded together with his brother by a Grad missile.

Maid Abu Sahiban received a check from Mr. Bielski for 4,000 NIS from the S.O.S. Emergency Fund, part of the Jewish Agency's Fund for Victims of Terror. A total of 2 million NIS has been allocated from the Fund for the victims of missiles in the South.

The chairman and treasurer also visited communities that are within the range of missile fire from Gaza.  They met with the mayors of Ashkelon, Sderot and Netivot to learn about their needs and offer assistance. In addition, they visited Jewish Agency absorption centers where they met with new immigrants residing in the region.
