On Tuesday, January 6, 2009, a solidarity rally was held opposite the offices of the Israeli Consulate in New York, in support of the residents of Southern Israel, IDF soldiers, the State of Israel, and the just war it is currently fighting to bring peace and security to its residents in the south.
The event was arranged by a number of Jewish organizations and communities, and drew over 2,000 people.
In the days preceding the rally and until the moments before it began, the Hagshama Department of the World Zionist Organization worked tirelessly to publicize the event and attract as many participants as possible.
This effort, along with the work of the other organizations, guaranteed the success of the inspiring assembly.
Among the materials distributed to the rally’s participants were those posted on a special website set up by the department for this purpose – www.hagshama.org.il/solidarity-with-the-south/.
This rally marked a direct continuation of the previous rallies held over the last two weeks. Additionally, a large rally representing all New York’s communities is planned for this Sunday, January 11, 2009. Other events will be held in California and Chicago. More information about all these events can be found at the aforementioned website.
