Alexei Kiriyevski, a graduate of the Jewish Agency Kfar Saba "Selah" pre-University program, just came back from Deauville, France, and the European Air Gun Championship with a marvelous achievement – a silver medal.
Selah, a Hebrew acronym for “Students before Parents,” is a 12 –14 month academic preparatory course for recent high school graduates from the former Soviet Union (FSU). The program includes room and board, intensive Hebrew-language studies (ulpan), cultural programs and activities and a special course of studies to prepare the students for post-secondary education.
Alexei led for most of the final and on the next to the last round the score was tied. After the final shot the Italian beat Alexei by only two tenths of a point. Forty-seven countries and 452 marksmen took part in the competition. In Alexei's category – youth air pistol, 47 marksmen competed.
