Location The Calanit Absorption Center, was established in 1992, in order to accommodate new immigrant students during their first months in Israel. It provides high level Hebrew ulpan study, specific academic programs and a warm social and supportive environment, thereby offering young adults from all over the world the opportunity to continue their academic studies in Israel. Located in the southern ancient city of Ashkelon, it boasts an excellent geographic location near the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Today, Ashkelon is made up of an elaborate municipal framework and a high quality of life geared to her over 120,000 residents. A beautiful green city, with splendid beaches and a comfortable climate, it is only a 45 minute bus or train ride to Tel Aviv and an under an hour drive to Jerusalem.
Accommodation The Center provides furnished rooms and apartments and various Hebrew and study programs and meals are served for Center residents. Olim are required to provide their own personal items, such as linen, blankets and dishes. Central heating and hot water (small electric boilers for each apartment) are provided, residents pay for gas, electricity and water according to use*.
*Cost for gas, electricity and water is included in the rental fees for young adults on student programs or those receiving Student Authority assistance. |
