Location Offering a warm and supportive framework in a beautiful environment, the Ibim Student Village works hard to create an all consuming atmosphere for the 400 young adult residents, intent on integrating them into Israeli society. This serious educational setting combines educational opportunity with a comprehensive social and cultural network, making the integration process the best experience it could possibly be. The Department of Aliyah and Absorption in the Jewish Agency for Israel opened the Village in 1992, and in 1998 the United Jewish Federation of San Diego Country adopted the Village, providing for and taking a special interest in, the welfare and needs of its residents.
Accommodation The Ibim Village provides the residents with all their daily needs – low-cost apartments, a newly secured protective dining room grocery store and launderette. The physical surroundings of the Village make an important contribution to the feeling of belonging of the residents, and thus a tremendous amount of attention has been invested into the development of its landscape. These efforts once again, received public recognition when Ibim was a recent recipient of the “Council for a Beautiful Israel” award, for the sixth consecutive year. Olim are required to provide their own personal items, such as linen, blankets and dishes. Meals are served to residents of the village and a computer room with PCs and internet access is available for the student’s use, individual internet connections may be arranged in dormitory rooms through local providers, at the oleh's own expense. |
