Mitzpe Netofa

Background Information

A religious community village located in the Lower Galilee overlooking a breathtaking view of the green, lush Galilee hills and the Netofa Valley is Mitzpe Netofa (literally the Netofa observation point).  Founded in 1983, it belongs to the Lower Galilee Regional Council and is currently home to 110 families.

A vibrant population and established community Mitzpe Netofa has established a community unique in its high social involvement and active social concern.
Residents work in various fields of employment including education, social services, industry, trade and the free professions – within the settlement, in nearby villages or in urban localities in the north.

Society and Community

The social and community activity in the settlement reflects the high standards of its inhabitants.  Cultural and social activities are held within the village and the surrounding area, in various contexts and fields.  Children and youth enjoy a wide selection of enrichment and sports activities as well as a children’s club and participation in the Bnei Akiva youth movement which boasts a very active branch in Mitzpe Netofa.  There is an active library, and a short drive away, a regional lending library offering literary and reference books.  The synagogue, which is one of the hubs of community life, offers a range of spiritual and learning opportunities.

The Mitzpe Netofa village is, above all, a home.  The community is warm and dynamic although very diverse from a social, generational, professional, ethnic, cultural and religious point of view.  The unique strength of this patient and tolerant community, lies in its social unity.  Mutual aid both within and outside of the settlement, true giving, lending a hand, genuine friendship and a life of partnership, coupled with a mutual respect for privacy are the things that define it.  All community decisions are reached in a democratic fashion, through elections for the secretariat and committee activism as well as through an active members’ general assembly. This,  and much more, make Mitzpe Netofa a wonderful and attractive place.

Education

The settlement has an early childhood daycare center and kindergarten, providing care for infants from age 3 months to post-kindergarten age.
The State-religious elementary school that the children attend is located in nearby Kibbutz Lavi, with transportation organized by the Regional Council.  A selection of top quality high schools are available for boys and girls in various regional educational institutions – according to one’s individual choice.
