The Rural Communal Aliyah and Absorption Project

Our goal is to help form a core group (garin)– consisting of 10 to 15 families whose aim is to make Aliyah together.  The families will investigate their various options and decide on their target locality. Subsequently they will arrange joint meetings and activities focusing on social interaction and Aliyah preparation. Thus, they will arrive at their target location as an already cohesive group able to support each other throughout the initial steps in Israel and facilitate a smoother absorption process.

This garin of immigrants will join the community for an initial 6-12 months. During this time, the immigrants will study in ulpan, enhance their knowledge of Jewish heritage, the history of the Jewish People and the State of Israel, and will investigate employment and business options.

During their stay at the absorption base, the immigrants will be adopted by host families in the community, and will become an integral part of all aspects of life in the community and the region.

At the end of the absorption period, they will be given the opportunity to either join the community and buy a permanent home or find housing elsewhere according to their preference.

Based on experience in other localities, we have found that absorption in a community village is a warm, supportive and embracing process, which enhances the immigrants’ adjustment to life in Israel and, to a large extent, minimizes the difficulties associated with the absorption process. Moreover, the personalized and dedicated attention they will receive will help to ensure that their absorption process is as quick and successful as possible.
