SAVE A CHILD’S HEART with  Idan Raichel in Cape Town

November 2010/Kislev 5771

In October Idan Raichel and his group performed in Johannesburg at the musical festival Rocking the Gardens which took place at Emmarentia dam, to which over 3000 people attended. This was followed by their performance in Cape Town at the Rocking the Daisies event, at Kloof Wine Estate.

Members of the local Cape Town Jewish community were further treated to an inhouse show by Idan Raichel in a fundraiser for the Save a Child’s Heart organisation. Ben and Esta Levitas opened up their home on Saturday night, 9 October 2010 to approximately 80 guests. This event was arranged by Esta Levitas, the Deputy Chairperson of SAZF Cape Council, in conjunction with Israel Centre Cape Town.

A group from the Cape Town minstrels were also on hand to provide music, colour and excitement. Idan came with his band to show his support for Save a Child’s Heart.

Through the evening people mingled and enjoyed a delicious spread of drinks and snacks whilst The Minstrels offered the real flavour of Cape Town to the event. It was a treat to be able to share our local musical talent with Idan and his group from Israel, and they also thoroughly enjoyed it.

Esta and her daughter Mikhaela, who had volunteered at SACH in Israel, both shared stories about the work of the project. Idan also spoke of his connection to and support of the Save a Child’s Heart foundation. Many contributions were received in order to support and further the work of SACH.

In a very relaxed and comfortable setting, all present were also treated to 3 songs by Idan Raichel. It was definitely a highlight of the evening having a private performance from such a highly respected and talented Israeli musician!!
