The Aliyah Spotlight - November 2003

Employment Solutions: Aliyah 2000

Aliyah 2000 employment training programs have long proved successful in providing a supportive, all-encompassing framework for immigrants from the FSU, as well as from the West. Most of the current courses can guarantee a ninety percent employment rate to graduates.

Auto Mechanics

Immigrants from: FSU

Accommodations: Beit Canada, Jerusalem and Beit Eliezer, Hadera

In conjunction with: Mechanics Union

Many participants are trained engineers specializing in fields with little application in Israel, such as mining, trains, textile or forestry and will retrain.

Lawyers

Immigrants from: France and Argentina

Accommodations: Ra'anana Absorption Center

In conjunction with: Israel Bar Association and the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption

For certified lawyers to become proficient in Hebrew and study towards the Israeli BAR exams.

Computer Networking Technicians

Immigrants from: Russia/Ukraine/France

Accommodations: Karmiel Absorption Center

In conjunction with: ORT

Participants begin studying abroad at ORT branches in their countries of origin.

Nurses (Registered and Practical)

Immigrants from: FSU

Accommodations: Beit Canada Absorption Ctr.

  • Upon completion of Hebrew ulpan, will then go on to study for certificates as  registered nurses in Tel Hashomer Hospital.

Accommodations: Kibbutzim in the north through the First Home in the Homeland program

  • Upon completion of Hebrew ulpan, participants will go on to become practical nurses in Sieff Hospital in Tsfat.

Air Conditioning Technicians

Immigrants from: Argentina, France, Russia and Ukraine

Accommodations: Ra'anana and Hadera Absorption Centers

In conjunction with: ORT

Participants begin their studies in ORT schools in their countries of origin.

Mechanitronics Project

Immigrants from: FSU Accommodations : Upper Nazareth Absorption Center

Many participants are trained engineers specializing in fields with little application in Israel, such as mining, trains, textile or forestry and will study at the Emek Yizreel College towards a technical engineering degree.

Doctors

Immigrants from: Latin America

Accommodations: Ra'anana Absorption Ctr.

In conjunction with: IDF ( all participants are under age 32 and will serve in the army for one year )

Or 

Accommodations: Tiberias Absorption Ctr. In conjunction with : Poriah Hospital

  • Most of the doctors passed the initial licensing exam after the technical ulpan and will go directly into specialization tracks in Poriah.
