Since July 1, the Jewish Agency has been providing day and overnight camp opportunities to all the 8,200 youth between the ages of 6 and 17 living in Sderot and the surrounding area, taking them to camps or on field trips outside the zone which has come under continuous rocket attack from the Gaza Strip.
On any given day during July and August, there are some 4,000 children and teens participating in a myriad of Jewish-Agency coordinated camp activities. This summer camp project for Sderot-area youth cost $4.79 million, funded by the United Jewish Communities, UIA Federations Canada, and Keren Hayesod.
"On any given day there is a camp activity available to each and every child in the Sderot area, which take place out of the range of the missiles," says Yael Raz, the Jewish Agency coordinator of the summer camps. For more click here.
Countless Attractions
August 19, 2007 / 5 Elul 5767
In the camps run by the Society for the Preservation of Nature in Israel, Israel Experience and Migdal Ohr, this was the last day of activity. We successfully completed two cycles of camps (seven weeks) for the children of Sderot and the Gaza perimeter.
Thanks to the Jewish Agency the children toured the country and visited museums, amusement parks, zoos and innumerable attractions. Most importantly they were no longer are in the range of the Kassam missiles as we had removed them from the danger zone and thus provided their parents with a sense of tranquility and the security that their children were in a safe environment good and loving hands.

Seminar and Scuba Diving
August 16, 2007 / 3 Elul 5767
The Sha'ar HaNegev Seminar continues with excellent workshops on self discovery, developing a social network for children and continuing to strengthen the Noar HaOved VeHalomed youth movement in the Sderot and Gaza perimeter communities. The high school aged youth who participated in the seminar also enjoyed swimming and socializing with their new and old friends.

The seminar is lots of fun!

Children and youth at risk who participate in the Gvanim Associations activities went
wild over the great scuba diving camp in Eilat sponsored by the Jewish Agency,
Ynet - Yedioth Aharonot and partner organizations.
They said thank you before...

as well as during the scuba diving experience.

End of Summer Happening
August 15, 2007 / 1 Elul 5767
Summer camp was filled with so many adventures and new experiences that the end of camp event had to be really special. The Jewish Agency and its partners found the perfect venue at "Chai Kef" in Rishon LeZion. The "Happening" started at 10 am and continued non-stop until 7pm. Approximately 2000 campers from first to twelfth grade participated in the numerous workshops, as well as in the various "worlds" set up around the park grounds.

Thank you Ynet!
