The Young Scientists – “Afikef” Campers from Afikim Visited the Science Museum in Rehovot
July 21, 2008 / 18 Tammuz 5768

A day prior to their arrival at the Weizmann Institute, Dr. Goldman from the Science Museum in Rehovot arrived at Afikef to demonstrate to the campers fascinating chemical reactions and processes. The children engaged in experiments and learned how to perform magic tricks. For example, they learned that oxygen becomes a liquid at -218°C and one uses this in many and varied industrial processes.

The next day, at the museum, the children learned about balance, solar heating systems and more. The highlight of the trip was an explanation about processes for manufacturing ice cream. Afterwards, they all had a good time licking the ice cream that they had made themselves.
