Mr. Keith Landy (KH)

Committee Member

Mr. Keith M. Landy was born in England and raised in South Africa. He immigrated to Canada in 1970. A senior and founding partner in the Toronto law firm of Landy, Marr LLP , Keith received his LL.B. at the University of Windsor and was called to the bar in 1977.  He is certified as a specialist in civil litigation by the Law Society of Upper Canada and has lectured in civil litigation at the Bar Admission Course.

 

From 1994-1998, Keith served as a Director of the Advocates’ Society. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Medico-Legal Society of Toronto, the Metropolitan Toronto Lawyers Association and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association.

 

From 2001 to 2004, Keith was the National President of Canadian Jewish Congress Keith had also previously been elected Chair of Canadian Jewish Congress, Ontario Region (1998-2001), and has served as National Honorary Legal Counsel (1995-1998), and has held numerous offices at the regional and national levels.  He was counsel for CJC at the Somalia Inquiry, and at the Supreme Court of Canada in Human Rights Commission v. Malcolm Ross and New Brunswick Teachers Federation. Keith was a Vice President of the World Jewish Congress and a member of the Executive Committee of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims.

 

Keith is the recipient of The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal (2002); he also received the Lincoln Alexander Award; in 2004 he was invited to become a Governor of the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews (CCCJ).

 

Mr. Landy serves as a committee member since June 2005.
