Rabbi Uri Regev is the Executive Director of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, headquartered in Jerusalem. He previously served as executive director of the Israel Religious Action Center, the social action arm of the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism.
Rabbi Regev currently serves on the boards of the Association of Civil Rights in Israel, HEMDAT (The Council for Freedom of Science, Religion and Culture in Israel) and Rabbis for Human Rights. He is a founding member of B'Tselem and a member of the Forum for National Responsibility.
A lawyer by profession, Rabbi Regev is a graduate of Tel Aviv University. He received his rabbinic ordination in 1986 from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Jerusalem. He served in the IDF as a military prosecutor and holds the rank of lieutenant colonel (reserve).
Rabbi Uri Regev has been a member of the Jewish Agency’s Board of Governors since October 2002.
