Forty Jewish Immigrants Flee from Iran Back into Israel

December 27, 2007

Israel always seeks to get mounting number of Jews living abroad return to settle in the Hebrew State. Amidst warm welcome, nearly forty Jewish immigrants from Iran flew to Israel on Tuesday, the largest such influx from Iran as a single group in recent years. Friends and relatives gathered at the airport to receive their loved ones and families who have expressed great joy at their arrival. “When you enter Israel you have a strange feeling. You feel like you're becoming holy”, a returning immigrant said.

Michael Jankelowitz, a spokesman for the Jewish Agency said that the agency is supporting every immigrant with a grant of $US10,000 to assist in his or her absorption into Israel, above and beyond what is made available by the State of Israel.

It is to be mentioned that thousands of Iranian-Jews immigrants live in Israel and have secret relations with their relatives in Iran despite the enemy relationship between Iran and Israel for nearly three decades now.
