July 25, 2000 - 400 Youths in Jewish Agency Israel Experience Program to cross the Sea of Galilee

22 Tamuz, 5760
Jerusalem

400 Youths in Jewish Agency Israel Experience Program to cross the Sea of Galilee at 2PM on Wednesday 26/7/00 on 19 Rafts

Four hundred youths from the 'Noar Hatzioni' Youth Movement from all over the world who are participating this summer in the Jewish Agency's Israel Experience program will cross the Sea of Galilee on Thursday July 26th at 2pm on 19 rafts which they themselves have constructed. A competition will also be held for the most attractively decorated raft.

The rafts will sail at 2pm from the Hukuk Beach near Karei Deshe on the Northwest side of the Kinneret, to the Luna Gal Beach on the Northeast side of the Kinneret. During the morning the participants will complete the construction of the rafts.

The youth are from the Federation of Zionist Youth (FZY) in England and Hanoar Hatzioni in Canada, Belgium, Turkey and Latin America. They will also be joined by Israeli members of the Noar Hatzioni Youth Movement.

Within the framework of the Jewish Agency's Israel Experience program more than 15,000 Jewish youth visit Israel from abroad every year. The goal of the program is to strengthen the Jewish Zionist identity of the participants. This summer over 10,000 Jewish youth are participating in the Israel Experience program of the Jewish Agency for Israel.

The media is invited to cover the event. Motor boats will be available to assist the media during the crossing of the Kinneret. For assistance on site call Eli Shachar – 053 870 421
