The Jewish Agency has helped organize a major international emergency legal conference: The Jerusalem Conference "Standing by Israel in Time of Emergency."
The International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists is holding this emergency conference in Jerusalem from December 12-14 . The conference, which comes in the wake of the Durban conference, in which the specter of anti-Semitism was revived, in the midst of a wave of terrorist attacks in Israel and in the midst of an international war against terrorism, will address these and related issues from the legal, humanitarian, political and military points of view.
Judge Hadassa Ben-Itto, President of the IAJLJ said "It is time for each and everyone of us to stand up and be counted among those who are ready to contribute their share in this battle which is being waged against Israel and the Jewish People."
The conference which will be held at Jerusalem's Inbal Hotel , will feature such issues as Human Rights, the Current Conflict from operational and legal perspectives, International Terrorism, legal and archeological aspects of the Temple Mount, the Racism at Durban and anti-Israel Bias in the International Arena. the Media. Low Intensity Conflict. They will be addressed by Israel's best legal minds, government officials, military officers and political analysts.
The Conference begins with a reception tendered by Jewish Agency President Sallai Meridor. In the course of the conference the attendees will be addressed by Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert, have lunch with Prime Minister Sharon, meet with Minister of Finance Sylvain Shalom.
The Jewish Agency's People to People Center which organizes professional networking and initiatives between Diaspora Jews and Israelis helped organize registration for the conference and recruitment for the IAJLJ. Jewish Agency Chairman Sallai Meridor, in an appeal to Jewish jurists and lawyers, noted that Durban, the wave of violence in Israel and the attacks in the United States send us all an alarming sign for the future. He urged Jewish jurists to attend the conference and join the IAJLJ.
Jay Shofet, Jewish Agency People to People Center Director said that the conference will enable Jewish lawyers and Jurists from throughout the world, to make first-hand connections with their Israeli colleagues.
