Jewish Agency Through Generosity of United Jewish Communities of North America is Largest Contributor to Telethon for Israeli Soldiers

The Jewish Agency through the generosity of the United Jewish Communities of North America gave the Friends of the IDF ("The Association for the Welfare of IDF Soldiers") a $300,000 donation, at the annual "Shirotrom" telethon for IDF soldiers

This gift, the largest donation received at the telethon, was given by the Jewish communities of Cleveland, Washington, and Chicago.

Stephen Hoffman, CEO of the United Jewish Communities informed Jewish Agency Chairman Sallai Meridor and President Moshe Katsav of the donation on a live TV broadcast from a special studio set up at the Presidential residence.

The gift was part of a comprehensive, "Israel Now" solidarity campaign, which North American Jewish communities are currently conducting on behalf of Israel.
