Jewish Scientists From Throughout the World Will Meet Tomorrow to Establish World Congress of Jewish Scientists. Jewish Agency Behind the Initiative

A steering committee composed of Jewish scientists from throughout the world and public figures will meet tomorrow (12 March) at Kibbutz Maaleh HaChamishah Guest House to establish the World Congress of Jewish Scientists. The Jewish Agency's "People to People" Center is one of the supporters of this initiative.

The WCOJS will unite Jewish scientists throughout the world and promote cooperation in research and projects on issues affecting the Jewish People and Israel. The initiative is supported by many of the world's leading scientists including Nobel Prize winners. Lectures on Genetics and International Cooperation will be among the events of tomorrow's program. At tomorrow's seminar members of the steering committee will set goals and establish a plan of action for the coming year. Among the projects of scientific cooperation, which may be undertaken by the WCJS are initiatives in the fields of genetics, biotechnology, sources of energy, water, computer science and geophysics. The WCOJS is likewise planning to operate in the field of education. Among plans to be discussed will be the organizing of "master classes" of the world's top scientists, and their lecturing at an international summer camp for outstandingly gifted youth, and the establishment of a museum, which will highlight the contributions of Jewish scientists. The WCOJS will establish connections with leading academic institutions and research institutes.

Tomorrow's program will include:

·         11:30-12:45  Discussion on Goals and Tasks

·         12:45-14:00  Lunch

·         14:00-14:30  "Interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of human genetics,"
