The Story of Israeli Absorption

December 24, 2007/ 15 Tevet 5768

Lawrence Bartlett, Deputy Director, Asia and Near East Assistance Office of the United States State Department experienced a comprehensive tour of Jewish Agency projects.

The tour began with a visit to the Jewish Agency absorption center in Upper Nazareth where he met with immigrants from various countries who reside at the center, including immigrants from India, Cuba, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Ethiopia.

In addition, Lawrence Bartlett visited a delicate chip working plant and met with a number of immigrants from India who are part of an internship program at the plant.  Both the immigrants as well as the owners of the plant expressed their great satisfaction with the internship and placement process at the plant and voiced their hope that the trainees would be integrated into the plant workforce.
