AZM Purim Connection -- The Biggest Year Ever

March 16, 2003
Chicago Region of the American Zionist Movement delivers over 5000 mishloach manot (gift packages) to Israeli soldiers and to the families of victims of terror in
Israel this year as part of the AZM-initiated “Purim Connection” program.

"The smiles, the hugs, the tears, the thanks - and our thanks in response . . .

made this trip so exceptionally meaningful." That is how Linda Harth, Executive Director of the Chicago Region of the American Zionist Movement, described the experience of being involved in delivering over 5000 mishloach manot (gift packages) to Israeli soldiers and to the families of victims of terror in Israel this year as part of the AZM-initiated “Purim Connection” program.

"The Purim Connection reflects Jewish tradition and serves as a practical and simple way for Americans to demonstrate their solidarity with Israel's young soldiers and terror victims during this critical time,” says Karen Rubinstein, Executive Director of the AZM. At the same time, those on the receiving end are reminded that Jews throughout the world are grateful for their services and appreciative of their sacrifices. “Please try to keep this tradition alive!” says Deputy Commander Michael Allouche of Sar-El in Tel Aviv. “The smiles on the soldiers' faces say it all."
