November 22, 2004 - December 1, 2004
The first Israel Now Tour took place in 2002 - the fifth tour took place in November 2004. Since the start of the first tour, and over a period of 24 months, more than 200 South African Jews (and a few gentiles) have visited Israel.
There is no doubt that these people have returned with a strengthened sense of Zionism and a love of Israel. This is evident in their participation at Zionist events following their return. More than fifty percent of each tour consists of referrals from previous participants.
The profile of the groups continues to be right across the board… in terms of age, religious affiliation, occupations, and interests. Approximately 20 percent are first time visitors to Israel, 20 percent have not been for more the ten years, and the remainder visit Israel fairly often or have family living there.
Each tour group returns to South Africa replete with rave reviews, a better understanding of the complexities of the socio-economic and political situation in Israel today, and even more important, a deep respect and love for the incredible spirit of the Israeli people and Eretz Yisrael.
A very special thank you to all our sponsors, without whom we could not offer the exceptional value that we do:
JNF, IUA, WIZO, EMUNAH, ORT, TELFED, Department for Zionist Activities of the WZO who coordinate the tour, Ben Gurion University and the Technion Haifa (in both South Africa & Israel).
