For the first time in the history of the Jewish community in Venezuela, in a period of less than eight months one hundred olim have departed for Israel.

This year the Zionist Federation of Venezuela played an active role in the Aliyah Campaign, sponsored by the Jewish Agency. As a result, said Elias Farache, president of the Federation,  “For the first time in the history of our community, in a period of less than eight months one hundred olim have departed for Israel.” On July 29, some 400 people from the community came together to celebrate with and bid farewell to the olim. The gathering was also a farewell to the aliyah shaliach, Abraham Shani, upon completion of his shlichut in Venezuela.
