Campers at the Eshel Hanassi camp, run by the Israel Society for the Preservation of Nature for the Sderot children, had a real treat today. The Police Community Relations Branch – Southern District organized a Police and Community Day for the campers. The children met with several police officers including the district commander, Superintendent Uri Barlev. During the day, the children were shown various weapons, communications devices and witnessed the all terrain vehicle, horse and canine units.

Eighth grade campers from the Shaar Hanegev summer camp enjoyed a water hike in the Golan Heights. They hiked through the Zaki river, and later had fun at the Luna Gal water park.

In the evening, the eighth grade campers joined with other campers from the Negev region to celebrate their coming of age - entering the high school level of their youth movement.

Campers finishing ninth grade begin a coast to coast trek today of moshavim belonging to the Working and Studying Youth movement (HaNoar HaOved ve HaLomed). The trek is from Haifa to Michmoret which they hope to accomplish in four days and it includes activities such as cleaning beaches.

Working and Studying Youth movement camps for those finishing tenth and eleventh grades are still up and running.
