"Community Builders"– Beit Shean Partnership 2000

Partnership 2000: Beit Shean-Cleveland

The "Community Builders" program brings together community leaders and activists from Beit Shean and the region, including moshavim and kibbutzim in the Beit Shean Valley. Graduates of the program were trained in groups of about 20 (there have been a total of 5 groups so far) on subjects such as the Third Sector, community work and initiation of projects. Each group suggested a number of ideas for projects and the ideas chosen from those proposals were eventually implemented by the group. The involvement of the members of the group does not end with the implementation of the project - they are also active in the activities of Partnership 2000 and/or of Community Builders, the hosting of delegations from Cleveland and enrichment activities.

    Mashik - Community Dental Clinics

A team of program graduates recruited dental clinics and dentists and at the same time located children and youth through the Welfare Services. The project provides volunteer dental treatment (aside from prosthetics). Each dentist contributes a different amount of time. Some clinics contribute one day per week, others a few hours per week. The team coordinates the activity including fundraising and the fund for special dental treatment. Three months ago, the team held an evening dedicated to the volunteers in the project. It was attended by the dentists and the clinic staffs that participate in the project. During the evening, representatives of the volunteers and of the Municipality spoke and certificates were distributed to the volunteers. The project is now completing its second year.
