Student Leadership - Ofakim - Merchavim Region

The Young Leadership project is composed of two groups: a Student Leadership group with 14 members and a Student Involvement group with 22 members. The Leadership group is responsible for initiating projects in the community and implementing them. The Student Involvement Group is responsible for the activity that is part of the Activists in the Community project. The two groups contribute a minimum of 4 weekly hours in community activity and in addition are committed to attending study workshops.

    Main Areas of Activity

  • Community Involvement: Members are committed to a minimum of 4 weekly hours during which they are active in various community projects.

  • Education/Youth: Most of the projects are related to assisting students having difficulties in their studies and gifted students.

  • Welfare: Projects to provide guidance to Welfare Service volunteers in the city.

  • Adults: The students implement projects related to the adult population, such as a computer course for 40+.


    Tutorial Center

    The Center operates a youth moadon which is open 3 days per week from 16:00 to 20:00. There are 3-4 students working at the Center who assist high school students in preparing homework, studying for exams and preparing for matriculation exams in language, math, English and other subjects.

    The project is in its second successful year. On average, 10 students use the Center every day. The students sometimes receive individual help and at other times group help, according to the circumstances.
