Our partnership with Afula-Gilboa is alive and well in 1997! Projects include an academic forum for new immigrants, the Early Childhood Museum in Afula, Leadership and Young Leadership Development, the Kefiada English Speaking Summer Camps, youth exchanges, and the Gilboa Economic Development unit.
Kefiada English Speaking Summer Camp
The Southern New England Consortium is sending four college-age counselors to the 1997 Kefiada Summer Camp Program in Afula-Gilboa. This year's counselors came from several communities: Rhode Island, Worcester, MA, Eastern CT, and Greater Hartford. Some of our SNEC federations are providing subsidies to the counselors from their areas. This is the second year that the SNEC has taken part in this exciting and worthwhile volunteer program and we hope that it will continue.
SNEC Partnership 2000 Brochures
Marilyn Grant and Jonathan Reiner sat down with a graphic designer at the Jewish Ledger to discuss the development of a SNEC Partnership 2000 brochure which will spread the word about this program to members of Southern New England's Jewish community. A sample brochure has been created, detailing what Partnership 2000 can do for us and for our partners in Afula-Gilboa. This sample will be presented at the next SNEC Steering Committee meeting. We hope to have a final product developed by September.
