Ein Harod Celebrates 80 Years of Settlement

Kibbutz Ein Harod Ichud in the Gilboa Regional Council area celebrated 80 years of settlement in the Yizreel Valley. Ein Harod was founded two weeks before Rosh Hashana in 1921. It was the first large kibbutz and was founded on the basis of creating a large open society using both agriculture and industry as a source of livelihood. The original site of the kibbutz was at Mayan Harod at the foot of the Gilboa Mountain. This year, a group of one hundred new immigrants were living at Mayan Harod in a newly opened absorption site. Ein Harod invited the new immigrants to celebrate with them together at Mayan Harod on September 5, 2001. Ha'Emek Medical Center was founded on Ein Harod in 1929.
