Five boxes of English children's books donated by SNEC were distributed in Afula-Gilboa. Two boxes went to the Nofim Community School in Afula Illit, which has a very large number of new immigrants from both the FSU and Ethiopia in their student body. One box was given to the elementary school in the Arab village of Sandale. This school has been actively participating in the Co-Existence theatre program in the Gilboa Regional Council. Another box of books went to the brand new elementary school in Gan Ner. This school opened for the first time September 1, 2001. Another box of books was donated to the after-school program for children at risk in the Omen municipal center in the Ta'anach area of the Gilboa Region. This much-needed after-school program was just initiated with the generous support of the Rogoff Foundation in Westport, CT.
