Seven educators from Afula/Gilboa traveled to New London for a joint workshop with their counterparts from New London, Westport and Rhode Island. In the workshop the teachers shared their ideas and concerns about contemporary Jewish education, and wrote curriculum units that they will implement in their respective classrooms in the first half of the school year. The workshop is part of the P2K Teachers Exchange/Curriculum Development project. The Israeli group consisted of 3 teachers from Yad LaHamisha Elementary School in Gilboa, and 4 teachers from Brosh Middle School in Afula. The joint workshop was co-facilitated by Hagitte Gal Ed, program coordinator in SNEC, and Matt Plenn, Melitz facilitator in Israel.
The group that met in New London is the second group of teachers involved with the project. The first group, which met last summer, consisted of 4 educators from Afula and 4 from Gilboa, who met with their counterparts from Westport, CT. Both groups are scheduled to meet in Israel in December for a follow-up workshop.
