Camp Shalom in Hartford, CT enjoyed having four CITs from Afula-Gilboa working with the children and planning Israel Day for the camp. For two and a half weeks in July 2002, Nimrod Feldman, Nitzan Avigad, Nitzan Bustan and Gal Sabo were hosted in West Hartford and worked as volunteer CITs at Camp Shalom. Dikla Maman Batito, from the Youth Department of the Afula Municipality accompanied the group, and also volunteered as a camp counselor. The CITs added to the Israeli representation at the camp and were invaluable in helping to plan the Israel Day and other activities.
The experience was a very positive one both for the A/G contingent and for the campers and other counselors at Camp Shalom. This was another resoundingly successful people-to-people program to the credit of Partnership 2000 between Afula-Gilboa and the Jewish Communities of the Southern New England Consortium.
