Ulpan and Archeology Program in Afula

This is the fourth summer that the Ulpan and Archeology Program has taken place in Afula-Gilboa as a Partnership 2000 program in conjunction with Professor Richard Freund, Director of the University of Hartford Maurice Greenberg School of Jewish Studies.

This summer the ten students lived at the new Emek Yizreel College Student Dormitories and studied in Hebrew classes at the college campus for two weeks from July 18 - July 31, 2004.

In addition to their formal Hebrew studies, the students had lectures and went on field trips in the area.

As in previous years, the program was considered to be a success by all connected with it. Several of the participants were back here for their third and even fourth time. The program enables people to connect with the Afula-Gilboa area in a special way. Having the use of the dormitories as a home base was a big plus this year.

We hope we will be able to continue to develop this program under Professor Richard Freund's leadership.
