WELCOME SNEC YOUNG EMISSARIES 2006-7

Hartford:
Hodaya Vaitzman, 19, Afula:
Hodaya is an observant Jew who has just completed a year of “Sherut Leumi”, National Service, working as a teacher for the past year in schools in Netanya. She is doing the Young Emissary program as her second year of service in place of serving in the army. She has been active in the “Bnei Akiva” youth movement as a leader.
New Haven:
Lev Kraitman, 17, Afula:
Lev and his family immigrated to Israel from Latvia when he was very young. He states, “ I feel that I can contribute to the Jews in SNEC. I believe very much in smiling, in doing everything with a smile and to put in it 100%!” As the tallest Young Emissary at 6 ft 4 in., Lev brings his experience as a scouts leader and has a black belt in karate.
Adi Ben-Ami; 18, Afula:
Adi comes from an Orthodox family of 5 children. She has leadership experience in the Bnei Akiva youth movement. She states,” I can contribute to this program by conducting group activities and activating other group leaders, increasing interest among teens and the Jewish community. I believe this program will enrich me as a person. In this way, I will know that I did something for my country.”
Providence:
Nadav Ben-Ezer, 18, Afula:
Nadav is an observant Jew who has been extremely active for 4 years as a medic for Magen David Adom, (MDA) and then as a youth leader training other teens to serve in MDA. His parents are both educators and he comes from a family of 5 children.
Timna Benn, 18, Moshav Devora:
Timna is the second SNEC Young Emissary from her family- her brother Daniel was a Young Emissary in 2001. She loves horse back riding and sports. In her words,” For me, Israel means the only place for every Jew in the world. I understand the importance of the delegation during the complicated situation in Israel.”
Central Massachusetts:
Tal Bar-On, 17, Afula:
Tal returns to the US after having previously worked at a Jewish summer camp in Texas. She loves theater and dance and was very active in the Scouts movement as a leader in Afula.
Ron Marom, 18, Rishon Le-Zion:
Ron states, “ I think that it is very important to change the image of Israel among the Jewish community abroad. I believe that they should know that Israel is their second home and they can come here any time and build their life.” He loves all sports, especially volleyball.
Westport Wilton Weston Norwalk:
Dana Sofer, 17, Afula:
Dana has been active as a leader in the Scouts movement. She states: “ I want to participate in this program because I believe that it is important for Jews who live abroad to have a connection to Israel and I think that by being in touch with people in Israel, less American Jews will assimilate and grow apart from Judaism.”
Shira Epstein, 18, Gan Ner:
Shira comes from a small community settlement called Gan Ner, and lived before that in Kibbutz Ein Harod Meuhad. She states, “I think its important to deepen the connection between the communities over there to Israel.” She has experience in leadership in the Bnei Hamoshavim movement.
Eastern Fairfield County:
Lina Golub, 17., Afula:
Lina and her family originally immigrated to Israel from Latvia when she was very young. She has been very active as a leader in the Scouts movement. She states, “ I want to do this program because I like to work with people and want to contribute to the Jewish community in the USA by teaching Americans about Israel.”
Ziv Arzi, 18 yrs, Moshav Ram-On:
Ziv is the oldest of 4 boys in his family and comes from a small moshav in the Gilboa region. He is interested in photography and has experience in working with youth groups. He hopes to “connect the Jews in America to Israel”.
Greenwich:
Tali Dotan, 18, Moshav Moledet:
Tali is following in a family tradition as the third member of her family to be a Young Emissary: her brother, served as a Young Emissary in and her sister, served as a Young Emissary in Tali loves dance and has been involved with the Seeds of Peace coexistence program.
Shai Joskowicz, 18, Kibbutz Netiv Halamed Hei:
Shai states,” I am friendly, idealist, Zionist, and above all, I am a teenager with hopes and dreams.” Shai comes with leadership experience in the Kibbutz Youth movement. She is also interested in putting on shows and plays for children.
Eastern CT: (New London)
Tohar Talmor, 18., Gidona:
Tohar comes from a tiny village in the Gilboa. She spent a summer at an international leadership camp in the US. In her words, “I believe it is really important to increase the awareness of the Jewish life in Israel, the ‘Holyland’ and let the Jewish communities know that they have plenty of reasons to be proud calling themselves Jews.”
Einat Kiper, 18, Moshav Ramat Zvi:
Einat has been very involved in the Bnei Hamoshavim youth movement. She writes,” I think that the connection between all of the Jewish people is very important because it is the only way to preserve our heritage and tradition and I would like to contribute as much as I can to this important connection and relationship.” She loves horse back riding and sports.
