The "Follow Me" Association was first established in 1997. The objective of the activity is to prepare young people ages 17-18 for their enlistment into the IDF combined with helping others. The organization is based upon the principles of Zionism, friendship, personal and group responsibility. These are not just words. They are principles that all of the program's participants study and adopt as a way of life. Some 40 young people from Afula participate in the organization's activities whether it is push-ups, sit-ups and long-distance runs or distributing hot meals to the city's needy.
Rita, a 17-year-old 12th grade student from Afula told us "I am so happy that I belong to the "Follow Me" family and enjoy every minute of it. Although the training is difficult, we don't pay attention because everyone helps each other and therefore we hardly notice how rough it really is. Within the community projects framework, we help a lot of people in need and that gives us a great feeling."
