Meaningful March Parade Celebrates Founding of State of Israel in 1948

Carly Risman, a 12-year-old town resident, said she enjoyed singing, dancing and munching falafel after last year's inaugural march from upper Greenwich Avenue to Town Hall to celebrate the 1948 creation of the state of Israel.

But yesterday morning's march meant more, the Greenwich Academy sixth-grader said, because she's been learning more about Israel during the past eight months from Shai Joskowicz, a 19-year-old Israeli who has been living with Risman's family since August as an "emissary" to the Jewish community here.
