Rosh Hashanah is known to be a time we take stock of things. Yet also, a period during which new programs are presented.
Almost four months have passed since our last videoconference. The "virtual" meeting was both interesting and exciting, although it would have been great to be able to hug in person… We presented a number of programs that I am pleased to note received your approval and acceptance. Currently we are making every effort implement these programs as best as possible. My hope for the new year is that we will have many opportunities to meet face to face, strengthen the special bonds between our communities and engage in a meaningful discussion about ways to enhance our partnership and develop it even further.
Today under the auspices of the Afula-Gilboa Steering Committee, we are meeting to summarize our accomplishments, brainstorm ways in which we can strengthen contacts between our partner communities and enhance our P2P relationships so both your children and ours will be able to find the common ground that exists between Israelis here and Jews in your communities. We are looking at the various ways in which we can, based upon our people's common past move forward together today and in the future as One People working towards our common objectives of strengthening Jewish Identity and the bond with the State of Israel.
Recently I read an article in the "Jewish Ledger" concerning the "Young Emissaries" program and as the mother of a former YE in New Haven I identified with the messages that were conveyed to our young people and hope that this important program with continue and strengthen. I am a very strong supporter of the program and recommend it warmly to our young people's parents here as well as to those deserving young people who in my opinion would serve as a wonderful example for the partnership.
Some of you may have heard that Menachem Yavor, our Deputy Mayor was injured in a horrific car accident. Happily, I can report that he is recovering and we all hope that soon he will return to full-scale activity.
As we enter into the New Year, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you on behalf of the Steering Committee and myself a life of Good Health, Peace, Serenity and Success for us all.
With Much Love,
Judith Antonelli -Steering Committee Co-Chair
