Gateway to the Garden of Eden - The Visit to Israel Begins in Beit Shean
22.8.2010

Over the last two months about 300 visitors from Cleveland have visited the Partnership 2000 of the Beit She'an Valley, for whom arrival to Cleveland's twin city - Beit She'an & the Valley of Springs is a significant portion of their trip to Israel.

Within the framework of the visits, a number of students on a Birthright trip visited the region for two significant days.  They celebrated the American Independence Day with local residents, volunteered for an ecological activity with the Youth Department of the Valley of Springs, and met with local students and social activists from communities of the region. New love was created between the residents of Kibbutz Shluchot and Fairmount Temple during a visit which included a tour of kibbutz life, a visit to the agricultural branch, home hosting and a festive dinner party together. Members of the Temple - Tifereth Israel, stayed at the Menachemiya moshava, visited and heard about the pioneering settlement, learned to milk goats at the As-Is goat farm  and ate dinner together with local residents who enjoyed the personal encounter. Many visiting families met with participants of Partnership 2000's special projects: Viewing Ethiopian art through the Shorashim Theater and a conversation with the theater director, who founded the theater as a project in the framework of the Community Builders program to help foster the Ethiopian community; cycling and picnicking with the youth leadership group - Ambassadors for Unity, visiting the Youth Futures summer activities and more ..

See you next year!
