For 10 years in a row, the Students leadership program of Partnership 2000 Beit shemesh- Mateh Yehudah- Washington- South Africa of the Jewish Agency has been handing out scholarships to students from Beit Shemesh and Mateh Yehudah. In exchange, they volunteer in the community. In addition the students study in a course dealing with the Israel society and community leadership.
As in previous years, a "challenge day" took place in the end of April.
The day, run by "Yeadim Bateva" contained Team integration, team work, thinking games and interpersonal communication.
The Day began with splitting the group into 2. the first one had to deal with different problems which they had to solve by thinking as a team. The second group had a "trust exercise": each one had to walk on a thin rope, while depending on the other peers to keep him balanced by holding ropes. (Don't try it at home…)
Another exercise was to build a pyramid of wooden poles and to raise one of the group to the highest point.
The last exercise was for the entire group. The group had to reach the top of 3 level rope- ladder. Part of the group had the mission of stabilizing the ladder, and the other part had to climb the 3 levels, each one more difficult than the other.
Don't worry - the task was completed.
The academic year is over soon, same as our program, and the exams period will begin. We wish all the students best luck in their tasks, and we are already waiting for next year's students.
