For two months, through Partnership 2Gether Beit Shemesh - Mateh Yehuda - Washington - South Africa of the Jewish Agency, a group of 11 youth movement Habonim Dror from South Africa have been living and volunteering in Beit Shemesh. Their apartment is located in the Mishlat neighborhood. They work at Branco Weiss high School in Beit Shemesh. Every day, dressed in blue shirts with red string, they march from the market area to the school. Highly motivated full of joy that suits their age, they enter the school to volunteer with all their hearts.

Nitzan Baruch, pedagogical coordinator at Branco Weiss School in charge of the volunteer group says: "After the second time, the South Africans volunteered, a very personal connection was created. The students wait for them and see them as teachers as well as friends". Nitzan also notes that beyond the English learning in the classroom, the group is an example of a positive personal contribution to society and spending a year volunteering and giving. This is a chance for Israeli students to meet with Jews from other parts of the world. Culturally, this opens up the students minds. Steven Frohlich & Josh Singer from Habonim add "Volunteering is challenging, but in the end it is a reward for both us and the kids at Branco Weiss"
