Kriger Shechter Baltimore pupils meet Karmiel Ort Horowitz Junior High peers (photo by Yehudit Peled)

During May, 3 delegations of youth and students visited the Karmiel- Misgav region on behalf of "partnership 2000" of the Jewish Agency.
The first comers were 60 students from "Beth Tefilha" congregation in Baltimore. They visited in Amit high school in Karmiel. They were hosted by the Israelis families and celebrate together "Lag Baomer" with a big bonfire.
A week after arrived students from "Kriger Shechter" in Baltimore, That visited in Ort Horowitz Junior high. The students started communicating before the visit by "Shutafim " project. The purpose of the project is to strength the relationship between the Israeli youth and the youth in the Diaspora. The program is built on the rational that distance groups are coming closer when they learn to know the common tradition, identity and roots.
During the visit, the students enjoyed together in roops activity at smadar grove took a walk in Tzalmon River and sang in Kraioke club.
In the last delegation participated 80 students from Pittsburgh, who came in "birth right" mission.
They were hosted in Ziad tent in Salame. There they met Baruch Rozen, the mayor deputy of misgav regional council, they heard about "partnership 2000" activities in the region and met the representatives of "LINK" organization, which deals with environment and coexistence. After the meeting they took a walk in Tzalmon River and participate in an operation of cleaning the river as their contribution to Karmiel- misgav communities.
