Participants from Misgav Contribute To Their Community through the "Neta" Program
3.7.2007

For the third year in a row, 11th grade students from Misgav Regional High School have participated in a program called "Net@" a Hebrew acronym for 'Instilling Social and Technological Excellence in Young People Residing in the Periphery'.

This joint program supported by the Jewish Agency, Keren Hayesod, the UJF of Greater Pittsburgh, Cisco Systems Inc, the "Tapuah" Association and the local regional council has initiated a unique activity for the benefit of the community.

The students arrived at the Rom Farm (in Misgav), a breeder of cheese-producing goats situated atop Mount Camun near Karmiel.

The "farm staff" is composed of individuals from the area who suffer from a variety of mental and emotional disabilities.

The work on the farm is a significant part of their rehabilitation program.

The "Net@" students were asked by the rehabilitation counselor at the farm to aid in the construction of a fence designed to keep the animals within the confines of the farm, however the project was "stuck" since no one available or able to do the physical labor.

In spite of the hot weather, the students completed the task in four hours.

Everyone including the "farm staff", the manager and group counselor were very proud and excited that the work had been completed.

The students were then served a breakfast consisting of locally produced goats' cheese.

This gesture was an important, exciting and much appreciated ending to the group's three-year study program.
