A group of 50 teens from Pittsburgh young people visited the Karmiel-Misgav region during the week of July 6-11 within the framework of the Jewish Agency's Partnership 2000 program.

Prior to their departure from Pittsburgh, the young people participated in a "Counselor in Training" (CIT) orientation that was highlighted by their 3 weeks visit to Israel. Immediately upon the conclusion of their visit to Israel, the new counselors will be sent to work EKC summer camp.
They arrived at their Karmiel-Misgav destination on Tuesday July 6, 2010 for 5 days visit. The group was hosted by 28 of their counterparts from the region, most of whom are counselors or activists in the local youth movement.
Their visit included a variety of interesting and enjoyable activities. They toured the Golan Heights and an IDF base, went white water rafting down the Jordan River and toured the old city of Zefad. In order to examine their counseling skills and determine their readiness as camp counselors, the group conducted an Happening for the community at Karmiel' Family Park.
In addition, the group participated in a workshop in which they dealt questions relating to their Jewish identities, Israeli and American.
The last day of their visit was dedicated to "Tikun Olam" and the teens volunteered at "Open Heart" (Pitchon-Lev), Warm Plate Soup Kitchen, Karmiel Absorption Center, Meshumsehu 2nd hand Store at Misgav & Kef-Li Aviv Club for children with special needs.
