During the Sukkot holiday, the Partnership 2000 Volunteers Forum organized an outing for the residents of the Central Galilee. The event, which was attended by some 700 persons, took the participants through the Shimshit Hills, hiking or riding bicycles on trails and off the beaten tracks suited for all ages. Scattered along the trail were booths offering information and fun activities for the entire family: information about the history and geography of the region, an outdoor concert, baking pitta bread, outdoor arts and crafts activities and a challenging track for seasoned bikers.
The goals of this community outing were:
Strengthening the inhabitants' identification with the Region they live in. Providing residents of the Central Galilee with the opportunity to learn more about the history, the ecology and flora of Israel.
Inform people about Partnership 2000 programming and encourage them to join programs that are funded by the Partnership.
Using icebreakers to facilitate interaction between new immigrants and veteran Israelis, young people and adults, partnership 2000 volunteers and potential new volunteers, etc.
The outing was attended by:
Partnership 2000 volunteers
Some 250 new immigrants from Ethiopia, Argentina and the FSU
People participating in Partnership 2000 programs including teens who attended Camp Tamarak
Groups of school children
The outing marked another great contribution by the Volunteer forum and was a fabulous experience for all those who participated.
Maoz Bar-On, Young Leadership 4 Chairperson and a professional producer who volunteered his time and know-how to organize this beautiful and unforgettable event for the people of the Central Galilee. Together with Reut Hammer orchestrated the event. A group of our volunteers and of course the Partnership 2000 staff assisted Maoz and together they organized a fascinating event that we hope will be repeated.
