We were so happy the day our 39 Israeli campers arrived with their chaperones. From the time we met them at the airport, we could see the bond of friendship that was going to develop. These kids were so excited to meet us, and excited to meet their host families, excited to be in the U.S.A. and excited to see camp.
We noticed right away the bonds of friendship between the kids that had developed. They were always in groups and no one was left behind.
The first day we spent swimming and just talking with the kids, getting to know them and having them know us and learn about our program. The day was culminated with the host family dinner. These kids loved meeting their host families and learning about the children, the houses, the events and all the potential shopping they would experience.
After this day they were off to camp. Last Saturday Steve Goodman and I went with Karen Kaplan to camp to spend Shabbat with the kids and see the service and just to talk to them. They all had smiles on their faces and were eager to tell us all the things they were doing at camp.
It was great, I can't wait to see them again.
Have a good three weeks while we enjoy having all these great kids in Michigan.
